Banana Fiber
- SARG is an innovation company engaged in developing environment friendly sustainable products primarily out of agri waste and agri composites
- SARG is based in Surat, Gujarat, India known for textiles
- First innovation is the development of a soft and spinnable fiber extracted from banana tree.
- In-house developed enzyme based proprietary technology to soften and bring spinnability to raw banana fiber
- Banana fiber can be blended with cotton or any other natural fiber in the ratio of 60% Banana fiber and 40% Cotton/other natural fiber
- Started in 2OJ9, the company has gradually increased its banana fiber processing capacity to 720 tones per annum and yarn capacity of J2OO tones
- Tie up with two textile mills, to blend the banana fiber with Organic/BCI/Conventional Cotton
Yarn
- SARG offers yarn with a blend of 60% Banana Fibre and 40% Cotton Organic/ BCI/Conventional)
- Yarn counts : 10/1, 16/1, 20/1, 24/1, 30/1 and 40/1
- SARG is currently working on blending with wool, silk and other natural fibres

Highlight Of Banana Fibers
- Extracted from the pseudo stem of Banana tree that becomes an agri waste after harvesting the
- Fully sustainable and environment friendly
- For every KG of Banana fibre used in lieu of cotton, water saving is 10000
- Results in saving in land usage as the fibre is an agri waste and not from a newly grown tree for the
- Better carbon foot print as compared to Cotton as no chemical is used in the processing of
- As the process of extraction of fibre is mechanical and takes place at farm level the energy consumption is very insignificant as compared to any othe natural fibre including cotton

Banana Fibre extraction and Processing
- 1. Banana Plantation Purpose For Fruit
- 2. Farmers Harvesting Banana Fruit Bunch
- 3. After Harvesting Banana Fruit bunch farmers Cut the trees
- 4. Tree Stamps
- 5. Separating the Tree Layers
- 6. Extracting the fibers from separated tree layers in decorticated machine

- 9. Yarn Spinning Process
- 10. Finished Products

Fiber Avaibility and Potential
- India is the world’s largest Banana tree plantation country
- more 30% of the global banana tree plantation is in India
- SARG strategically located with potential to produce upto two million tones per annum
- SARG future plans include establishing banana fiber procurement and processing centers in Africans countries that have large banana tree plantations
